China, Serbia Forge Stronger Legislative Cooperation

(MENAFN) Peng Qinghua, a top Chinese legislator, vowed to enhance legal cooperation in advancing the China-Serbia community with a shared future during a high-profile visit to Serbia this week. The visit, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, was aimed at solidifying the bilateral ties between the two nations.

As vice chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC), Peng met with key Serbian officials, including Ana Brnabic, Speaker of the Serbian National Assembly, and Djuro Macut, the country's Prime Minister.

One of the highlights of Peng's visit was co-chairing the fifth meeting of the China-Serbia Legislative Bodies Cooperation Committee alongside Marina Ragus, Deputy Speaker of Serbia's National Assembly.

Peng emphasized that under the strategic leadership of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, the development of a China-Serbia community with a shared future had been comprehensively advanced.

He also emphasized that the NPC is dedicated to working closely with Serbia’s National Assembly to effectively implement the agreements made by the two heads of state. The goal is to use institutional platforms to enhance strategic coordination, deepen cooperation across various fields, and further reinforce the legal framework supporting this partnership.

In his discussions, Peng provided an overview of China's Global Governance Initiative as well as the country’s ongoing economic development.

Serbian officials expressed strong backing for the partnership, highlighting China’s significant development progress and the steadfast "ironclad" friendship between the two nations. Serbia reiterated its commitment to advancing high-level exchanges and legislative cooperation to ensure the successful realization of a shared future between the two countries.

The discussions reflect both nations' ambition to further integrate their strategic and economic agendas, with a focus on enhancing legal and institutional frameworks to support this growing partnership.
