France says no evidence found of attack on Putin’s residence

(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel Macron’s team stated on Tuesday that there is “no solid evidence” supporting reports of a drone attack on Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence, an incident Moscow has attributed to Ukraine.

A presidential source told media outlets, “The Russian authorities themselves are saying everything and its opposite about what actually happened, notably regarding the number of vectors involved and the regions targeted. Moreover, there is no solid evidence to substantiate the serious accusations made by the Russian authorities, even after cross-checking information with our partners.”

The comments followed claims by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who said on Monday that Kyiv allegedly launched an assault using 91 unmanned aerial vehicles on Putin’s state residence in the Novgorod region during the night of December 29. Lavrov added that all drones were destroyed and that there were no casualties or damage from falling debris.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy rejected the allegations, emphasizing that they undermine prior diplomatic efforts with the United States and could be used to justify further attacks against Ukraine.
