Palestinian girl dies in new Israeli violation of Gaza ceasefire
Reports indicate that an 11-year-old girl was fatally shot in the al-Zarqa area of the al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City. The location had previously been vacated by Israeli forces under the terms of the truce.
Eyewitnesses said Israeli military vehicles stationed east of the neighborhood opened intense fire toward the area. The girl was reportedly hit by a direct sniper bullet, resulting in her death.
In a separate incident, Israeli gunfire injured a woman and a child at the Halawa camp in Jabalia, in northern Gaza. The shooting targeted civilians who had been displaced, medical personnel said.
Palestinians say such incidents reflect repeated breaches of the ceasefire agreement that brought a halt to a two-year Israeli offensive. That war has left more than 71,000 people dead—most of them women and children—and caused injuries to over 171,000 others since October 2023, according to reports.
Local health authorities also state that since the ceasefire began, at least 414 people have been killed and more than 1,100 others wounded in Gaza.
