Ukraine orders evacuation in Dnipropetrovsk amid fighting

(MENAFN) Ukrainian authorities have issued a mandatory evacuation for residents of 46 settlements in the Synelnyky district of eastern Dnipropetrovsk, as clashes with Russian forces escalate, according to local officials.

“In order to preserve the life and health of the community residents, in connection with the increased threat to life and security, a decision was made to carry out mandatory evacuation from certain settlements of the Synelnyky District where hostilities are underway,” the Pokrovska territorial community stated on social media.

The evacuation order, finalized after coordination meetings in late December, includes the village of Pokrovske and 45 other smaller settlements, such as Andriivka, Bohodarivka, and Malynivka. Officials confirmed that the village of Voloske in the Dniprovskyi district will serve as the primary transit point for evacuees.

The local administration warned that after the 30-day evacuation period, essential services including medical care, social support, administrative offices, and certain utilities will be suspended in the affected areas.

The announcement coincides with Russian President Vladimir Putin’s directive on Monday for military commanders to continue establishing a “security zone” along the border into 2026.

During a briefing, Russian Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said that Russian troops are already setting up the security zone in the Dnipropetrovsk region and are advancing toward the city of Zaporizhzhia.

Gerasimov also claimed that Russian forces recently captured the settlements of Bohuslavka and Dibrova in Kharkiv and are pushing further into the town of Lyman in Donetsk, reflecting ongoing military operations across eastern Ukraine.
