Court Documents Say Palace Got Emails About Andrew’s Alleged Data Sharing
The material reportedly consisted of an archive of around 30,000 emails containing details about his financial affairs and was handed over in 2020 to the Lord Chamberlain, the most senior official in the Royal Household. The emails are said to have originated from a personal business associate of the former prince.
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter, stating: "Since there is an ongoing police enquiry concerning Mr Mountbatten-Windsor, it is not possible to provide any comment on these matters."
This development comes after Thames Valley Police recently renewed appeals for information following Mountbatten-Windsor’s arrest on suspicion of misconduct in public office.
However, legal documents reviewed from court proceedings suggest that the email archive had already been in the possession of Palace officials years before the current investigation gained momentum. A High Court judgment issued in April 2021 noted that a “copy of the archive” had been provided to the Lord Chamberlain in May 2020.
A further ruling in June 2022 also referenced an email dated 10 July 2020 stating that the files had been “delivered to Buckingham Palace.”
