Israeli Airstrikes in Gaza City Leave Nine Dead, Dozens Injured

(MENAFN) At least nine Palestinians lost their lives and 20 others were injured during a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting residential areas in Gaza City overnight, according to local reports. The attacks occurred despite a ceasefire that has been in place since Oct. 10 of last year.

According to available information, Israeli aircraft carried out coordinated strikes on several locations across western and northern Gaza City. Areas affected included the Shati refugee camp, the Sheikh Ridwan neighborhood, Tel al-Hawa, and the Muhabarat district.

The most severe attack struck the fourth floor of the Lebid family’s apartment building in the Muhabarat area. Reports said five members of the same family were killed, including Hassan Rebah Lebid, his wife Manar, and their three children, Mohammed, Rahaf, and Tamim. Their nine-year-old daughter, Hala, survived and was rescued from beneath the debris with minor injuries.

Elsewhere, two people were killed when a residential apartment in Tel al-Hawa was hit. Additional fatalities were reported following strikes on the Muhanna family home in the Shati refugee camp and a residence near the Abu Amin junction in the Sheikh Ridwan area.

Palestinian figures indicate that the conflict in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has resulted in nearly 73,000 deaths and more than 173,000 injuries. According to those figures, women and children account for the majority of the casualties.

Reports further state that although a ceasefire took effect on Oct. 10, 2025, Israeli military operations have continued on a near-daily basis. Data released by Gaza authorities show that 932 Palestinians have been killed and 2,859 others injured since the truce began.
